DR.
ANDREW R. KLIPPER Dr. Klipper is a Founding Fellow of the American College of Rheumatology and has practiced in the Baltimore community since his fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Medical school training was done at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He was Chief of Rheumatology at Franklin Square Hospital for 20 years and Saint Joseph Hospital for more than 10 years. He founded the first National Osteoporosis Foundation sanctioned support group in the Baltimore/Washington area. He is certified in Clinical Densitometry by the International Society for Clinical Densitometry. Dr. Klipper founded the Baltimore Osteoporosis Imaging and Diagnostic center which was the original Johns Hopkins site for the groundbreaking PEPI study of estrogen's effect on the bone and heart. In addition to Rheumatology and Osteoporosis, he has an interest in chronic pain and a new method of painless neurosensory testing for diabetic neuropathy. Consultant to the Arthritis/Pain Treatment Center of Clearwater, Florida, the Mensana Pain Clinic of Stevenson, MD, past president of the Maryland Society of Rheumatic Disease, a member of the Maryland Athletic Club Medical Advisory Council, and Vice President of the Baltimore Bone Club. Hobbies include listening to books on tape and enjoying his three poodles.

Recent accomplishments: Presented the osteoporosis lecture to the MedStar Health Primary Care symposia in 1999, and 2000. Participated in, and obtained funding for, the Florida Lupus Foundation Seminar on "Lupus Erythematosis: Treatments and Complications" on October 17, 1999. Authored the chapter on the gout in Lippincott's Primary Care Practice, Volume two, number 1, devoted to Arthritis and Related Disorders. Interviewed on Osteoporosis by Maryland Public TV (12 minute segment).
